Catherine Weber, of Harlingen, wins Girls “18” division; Shane Kyral, of San Benito, wins Boys “16”; and Dillon Eziember, of Rio Hondo, wins Boys “14” division. These three individuals will advance to Super Champs standing and compete with nationally ranked players. Over 350 competitors came from all over Texas, to play this past weekend, from San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Corpus. The tournament was played at 8 different sights in the Harlingen area for three days. Two players also won in Doubles. Catherine Weber with partner Dahlia Lopez won Girls “18” Double, while Dillion Eziember with partner Devin Kyral won Boys “14” Doubles. “These Tennis players join other Super Champs, like Tomas Stillman, Bennett Holder, Devin Kyral, Chris O’Regan, and Daniel Bracken that work hard at the HEB Tennis Clinic being held at the HEB Tennis Center Monday –Thursday from 8am- 12pm every week,” said Don Vanramshort - director of the Tennis Center. “We have a great network of coaches”: says Don Vanramshorst. “We train everyone from ages 5 to 18. These coaches are Noe Stillman, Kelly Holder, Joe Leal, Shane Kreger, Gabriel Cintron, and Audrey Hernandez.”
Congratulations go out to Ramon Borjas and Joshua Guajardo. They blew past the competition and won the 2008 Region IV Doubles. They are both graduating seniors and will be playing doubles in the same college.
